Dubai, once a stopover point for travellers, has now become a highly popular holiday hot spot in its own right. Quality and service are the key words here. Dubai has a subtropical arid climate and the weather is sunny all year round. Rainfall very rarely occurs and averages about 4 days a year. the best time to visit Dubai is mid-October till the end of May. This is when temperatures average their coolest, a mere 25 degrees celsius!
In the summer months temperatures average 40 degrees celsius in July and very regularly climb above 45 degrees celsius! It is very important to drink large quantities of water and the health authorities recommend three or more litres a day. In the summer months it is advisable to stay out of the sun in the hottest periods.
Important Information
Dubai and its people remain firmly conscious to their culture and understand that no matter how quickly the country evolves the people remember where they came from. Everyone in the UAE is proud of their past and look to the future with open eyes. They are a very hospitable country and take pride in traditions and many religious ceremonies throughout the year.
Despite its modern outlook, Dubai strictly follows Islamic laws which should be respected by all travelers. Islam is the official religion, therefore do not criticize or distribute material that speaks against it . Eating in public during the holy month of Ramadan is prohibited from sunrise till sunset and visitors should consume meals in the confines of their hotel or residence.
Alcohol is widely available at bars, restaurants, hotels, and leisure clubs. You cannot purchase alcohol from a supermarket. It is against the law to walk in the street drinking alcohol or to be drunk in a public place. You are not allowed to drink and drive; and this means a total ban on the consumption of alcohol whilst in charge of a motor vehicle; this includes the day after the night before. If you are caught drinking and driving you will face a prison sentence, if you are in doubt about the alcohol limits in your blood take a taxi. Note: Alcohol is banned in Sharjah.

Big Bus Tours
Hop aboard a traditional London open top bus for an amazing guided tour of Dubai. The commentary is in English however it is also available in eight other languages. There are over 20 starting or dropping off points combining two tours into one. The tours range from 1 hour 45 mins to 2 hours 30 mins and take in all the major sights in Dubai from Wafi Mall to the Burj itself.
Shopping
There are many Shopping Malls in Dubai due to it's size and you do not have to travel far to find one. Dubai shopping malls are very different to the usual type of mall found in Europe, they can be massive and you really can spend a whole day just in one. Below you will find a selection of our favourite malls.
The Mall of the Emirates
This Mall of the Emirates opened in October 2005 and is the largest shopping mall outside North America. It is situated on Sheikh Zayed Road, very near the beach. It is bigger than 73 football pitches with more than 400 retail outlets. What more can you ask for, every possible shop ranging from the traditional Arabic area through to a Ski Slope! - Yes an indoor ski slope is situated next to Virgin Records, here you can show off your skills on the slopes, play in the snow and even have lessons. Imagine telling your friends you learnt to ski in the desert. It is advisable to bring your own ski gloves as these are the only item not supplied by the ski centre.
The shopping mall itself is open from 10am-10pm on Sunday to Wednesday & 10am-12pm Thursday to Saturday. It will get very busy Thursday-Saturday evenings as in Dubai Friday and Saturday are classed as the weekend. There are so many fantastic things to do in the Mall of the Emirates, it would be difficult to do justice to them all on this page; however below you will find 3 of our favourites (Splash, Marble Slab & Magic Planet).
For the real bargain hunters enter the supermarket Carrefour, you will be amazed at the clothing and shoe section. It is a bargain hunters paradise!

Gold Souk Dubai
There are more than 300 jewellers situated in the strip and in the afternoon and early evening the streets are alive with people from all over the world visiting the city of gold. Each shop has its own craftsman who can alter on the same day any piece of jewellery. The Gold Souk promoted throughout Dubai as a tourist attraction and receives further aggressive promotion during the shopping festival, when tourists thrive to the strip.
You should visit the gold souk, to see the large variety of gold sold at truly amazing prices. Designs can be traditional, modern, conservative, old, delicate or robust and can be in various gold colours such as white, yellow and even pink.

Here you will find information about the 7 Themes (Worlds) which DUBAILAND will offer visitors. DUBAILAND is a member of the Tatweer group and is projected to cost AED 235 billion on completion.
This project is the biggest and most ambitious building project in the world. This unique 3 billion square foot development will become the world's biggest theme park twice the size of Walt Disney World in America and will contain a minimum of 55 hotels within its geographical location.
DubaiLand has 7 themes (Worlds): Theme parks, culture & art, science & planetariums, sports & sports academies, wellbeing & health, shopping & retail and resorts & hotels and in total consists of 45 mega projects. A few of these projects are already operational and include: Autodrome, Polo & Equestrian Club and Al Sahra Desert Resort.
DubaiLand expects a footfall of 40,000 visitors a day and will contribute to attracting 15 million visitors to Dubai by the year 2015. Once fully operational, the projected population of DubaiLand is 2.5 million people, which includes tourists, workers and residents.

Ski Dubai
Nothing is impossible in Dubai! Ski Dubai – an amazing indoor 22,500 square metres covered in snow year round - has 5 slopes that vary in difficulty, height and steepness. Kids and parents can have fun in the world’s largest interactive Snow Park! Skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels can enjoy the various slopes and snowboarders can also practice their stunts on the 90m long quarter pipe. Chair and tow lifts are all in place to carry you to the top of the slopes for each run.
Quality winter clothing and all equipment is provided within the ticket price, two themed restaurants provide refreshment and qualified instructors are on hand.
