5 Exciting Destinations for a Family Holiday in the Mediterranean
Family holidays can be tough to plan. You have to consider the kind of place you – the parents – want to go; but then there is what the kids want, which is often quite different! The ideal is an exciting adventure where there is plenty for adults and youngsters to, but also the opportunity to relax and take it easy. That’s what holidays are for after all.
So which magical destinations could possibly offer excitement, fun and relaxation in a beautiful spot? Thankfully in the wonderful Mediterranean there are a few to choose from.
Crete
The biggest Greek island is well known for its boozy party centre, Malia, but there is much more to the isle than that. If you want fun and excitement for the whole family, you can go on 4x4 off-road trips across Cretian wilderness, take segway tours around picturesque Chania Town or go on glass bottom boat trips to see the local sea life. Pony back treks, yacht cruises and scuba lessons will ensure there is loads to do for everyone.
Limassol
Cyprus is another top spot for an exciting break in the Mediterranean and the port town of Limassol is the destination if you want plenty of entertainment for the whole family. Venues such as the Four Seasons Hotel have fantastic grounds and pools, plus kids clubs to take the little ones off your hands for a while. If you want to get out and about you can take the family go-karting at Sayious Adventure Park, to the ancient ruins of Kourium, Fasouri Watermania Water Park or to Limassol Zoo.
Qawra
Qawra is located on the northeast coast of Malta and is another excellent Mediterranean destination for fun, frolics and relaxation. It’s known for a great choice of hotels and restaurants, but if you yearn for adventure it’s also an ideal destination for scuba diving, water sports and walking. The golden beach and beautiful blue ocean offer the opportunity for you to relax while the kids play on the sand and paddle in the water.
Majorca
Whilst not part of Cyplon’s portfolio, Majorca has been a family favourite for years, and for good reason. It has a plethora of hotels with kids clubs, pools and play areas for kids, and a whole lot more besides. Majorca is home to beautiful beaches, intriguing caves which you can explore and numerous fantastic water parks which will keep children entertained all day, while you sit in the sun or head down the slides yourself.
Sousse
The Tunisian coastal city of Sousse offers an array of opportunities for family fun in the Med. If the kids like a bit of history there are plenty of museums and archaeological sites to explore. If – like many children – they want to leave the learning at school, there are water sports to get stuck into, such as jet skiing and paragliding. And Tunisia is a great adventure anyway, from the bustling markets to the exotic food, weather and surroundings.
