Weddings in Cyprus

Whatever type of service chosen both the bride and groom must take with them the following:

  • Birth Certificates.
  • 10 year British Passports with at least 6 months' validity remaining
  • Sworn Affidavits* - a statement made by yourself declaring that you are 'single and free to marry', witnessed by a solicitor and officially stamped. This should be dated not more than 3 months prior to the wedding date. (Irish Nationals require a Freedom Certificate from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
  • If previously married, original Decree Absolute.
  • If widowed, original death certificate of previous spouse.
  • Anglican Weddings - at least one of the parties is required to produce a Christening or Baptism Certificate.
  • Catholic Weddings - the couple must visit their local priest in UK and inform him of their intention to marry in Cyprus, in order that additional documents be prepared. These include Baptism certificates for both bride and groom. Their local priest will then send these to the relevant priest in Cyprus.

* Non - British passport holders must forward copies of sworn affidavits to Cyplon Holidays 8 weeks prior to travel, and take originals with you.
