Quinta Jardins do Lago

Once the 18th century home of a Commander of the British Forces, Quinta Jardins do Lago has been lovingly converted into one of Madeira’s premier Quintas. Whilst retaining its old-world charm and elegance, this Quinta oozes warmth and sophistication and has an amazing history to match. The Quinta is set amongst 6 acres of incredible botanical gardens that boast a variety of over 500 plants and trees from around the world, some of which have been present since the early 18th century. The gardens also play host to the Quinta’s longest serving resident, ‘Colombo’ the giant tortoise who has been roaming he estate for 47 years and loves to be fed bananas by guests.
