Full Itinerary

Arrival into Muscat

Day 1

Our representative will meet you upon your arrival at Muscat International Airport and take you to your hotel. Following your check in and depending on your time of arrival, you can choose to explore the city at your own leisure or rest and relax around the hotel.

Muscat

Day 2

After breakfast our guide will meet you for your half-day Muscat Tour. Drive to the Grand Mosque, one of the largest and most spectacular in the world, accommodating up to 20,000 worshippers at a time. Please note, visitors will be expected to dress in a conservative manner with no revealing or transparent cloting. ladies must wear a head scarf/covering. After visiting the spectacular Grand Mosque, it's time to head to Old Muscat and one of the oldest souqs in Oman, Muttrah Souq, with the opportunity to barter for a bargain and pick up some authentic local souvenirs. Next, it's the fascinating Omani heritage collection at the Bait Al Zubair Museum before stopping for photo opportunities outside Al Alam Palace (not open to the public), the official residence of his majesty Sultan Qaboos and the neighbouring Portuguese fort of Jalali. Early afternoon return to your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure.

Birkat Al Mauz - Jebel Akdhar - Nizwa

Day 3

After breakfast you will check out of your hotel and be driven to Birkat Al Mauz and witness the local farmers as they cultivate the historic date palm groves made possible by Oman's ancient Falaj irrigation system. Then it's time to head for the green valley paradise and terraced fields of Jabel Akhdar in the Western Hajar Mountains to take in this incredibly beautiful and peaceful region before heading down the slopes to Nizwa and your hotel for the evening.

Nizwa - Jabreen - Bahla - Jebel Shams - Nizwa

Day 4

After breakfast jump in your 4WD and head to Jabreen and one of Oman's finest castles, and a historic seat of learning and culture. Next stop is the UNESCO World Heritage designated Bahla Fort and the nearby craftsmen famed for their traditional pottery. Enroute to Jebel Shams we will visit mountain villages such as Wadi Gul and Al harah with it's famed mud houses. Finally take in the spectacular views from Jebel Shams, the highest peak in the Jebel Akhdar range before returning to Nizwa for your overnight stay.

Nizwa - Wahiba Sands

Day 5

After a delicious breakfast there is time to visit Sinaw's old traditional souq and cattle market before ascending the twisting staircases of the imposing 17th century fort to take in the stunning views over the surrounding city and beyond. Depart towards Wahiba Sands. These spectacular dunes can reach 100m in height and are renowned for their rich orange sands. Enjoy the thrill of 4WD driving across this undulating desert landscape before visiting a traditional Bedouin house to learn from about life in the desert and share dates and traditional Omani coffee as you take in the unbelievable sunset from on top of the dunes. Dinner and overnight in the Arabian Oryx Camp.

Wahiba Sands - Wadi Bani Khaled - Sur

Day 6

Breakfast in the Arabian Oryx Camp before driving towards Sur, enroute visiting Wadi Bani Khaled, a natural oasis with a lot of greenery. Enjoy a short walk or swim (please bring a towel!) in the clear green waters. On arrival in Sur, check in to your hotel before spending the rest of the day at leisure. In the evening you have the opportunity to visit the nearby Turtle Reserve and a unique opportunity to sight turtles in their natural habitat. These turtle-watching group tours are lead by local naturalists who have intimate knowledge of the area, offering a great chance to witness these protected animals - although sighting turtles is not guaranteed!

Sur - Wadi Tiwi - Fins - Bimmah - Quriyat - Muscat

Day 7

After breakfast, check out from your for your final day exploring Oman. As you depart Sur your guide take you on an orientation drive of Sur, passing by some of the city's most interesting sitessuch as the local souq, fish market and Dhow-building yard. Continue on your drive to Wadi Tiwi village with its many farms growing banana, papaya, etc. Enjoy a short walk around the village / farms and continue to Fins beach or a refreshing stop. On arriving at the spectacular limestone crater and blue/green waters of Bimmah sinkhole you will have the chance to enjoy the mineral waters and take a rest stop. Once refreshed, continue your drive to Wadi Arbyn, one of the most interesting wadis in the region, and most of the time, this wadi has water making it a perfect place for some off-road Wadi driving. from here, it's a short drive to the scenic fishing village of Quriyat to take in the scenery and a final chance for some photos before your afternoon return to Muscat for your return flight home or to continue your Oman holiday.
