Day 2 | Tel Aviv - Caesarea - Megiddo - Tiberias
The day begins with a visit to the ancient port of Jaffa, one of the oldest ports in the world, where winding alleyways, galleries and historic houses recall centuries of seafaring heritage. The walk passes by the traditional home of Simon the Tanner and offers fine views from the hilltop across Tel Aviv’s shoreline. From here the route follows the Mediterranean coast along the ancient Via Maris to Caesarea. This city, built by Herod the Great in honour of Augustus Caesar, is renowned for its magnificent theatre, aqueduct and harbour. Continuing north, the journey pauses at Megiddo, the fabled Armageddon of the Book of Revelation, an archaeological site revealing layers of civilisations dating back over 5,000 years. The day ends with an eastward drive towards the Sea of Galilee, descending into Tiberias, one of Judaism’s four holy cities and a centre of rabbinical scholarship. Overnight in Tiberias.

Day 3 | Sea Of Galilee - Golan Heights
The morning begins at the Yardenit Baptismal Site on the River Jordan before travelling to significant places on the northern shores of the Sea of Galilee. At Capernaum, “His Town”, the remains of a synagogue and ancient dwellings illustrate the setting of much of Jesus’ ministry. Nearby at Tabgha, two churches commemorate the miracle of the loaves and fishes and the reinstatement of Peter. On the Mount of Beatitudes, the hill where the Sermon on the Mount was delivered offers sweeping views of the lake below. The afternoon ascends into the Golan Heights, with its rugged landscapes and panoramic views towards Mount Hermon. At Banias (Caesarea Philippi), one of the sources of the River Jordan, Jesus revealed his mission to his disciples. The site also holds remains of ancient temples. Return to Tiberias for overnight.

Meals included:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner
Day 4 | Nazareth - Cana - Beit Alpha - Jerusalem
A boat journey across the Sea of Galilee (weather permitting, optional) offers the chance to absorb the same views seen in biblical times. The journey then passes through the Galilee hills to Nazareth, where the Church of the Annunciation marks the place of the Virgin Mary’s encounter with the Archangel Gabriel. The town also holds Mary’s Well and Joseph’s Church. In nearby Cana, the Wedding Church commemorates Jesus’ first miracle, turning water into wine. Travelling onwards, a stop is made at Beit Alpha to see one of the finest preserved synagogue mosaics in Israel, depicting the zodiac and biblical scenes. The road then continues south through the Jordan Valley, passing by Jericho, before climbing through the Judean Mountains to Jerusalem. Overnight in Jerusalem.

Meals included:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner
Day 5 | Masada - The Dead Sea
Today’s journey follows the shores of the Dead Sea to Masada, the fortress built by Herod on a remote desert plateau and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ascend by cable car to explore the remains of palaces, storerooms, the bathhouse and the synagogue, while learning about the dramatic story of the Jewish zealots’ last stand against Rome. From the summit, the sweeping views across the Dead Sea and desert are unforgettable. Nearby, the caves of Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, provide an extraordinary link with biblical times. A stop at the Dead Sea itself allows time to float in its mineral-rich waters. Return to Jerusalem for overnight.

Meals included:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner
Day 6 | Jerusalem - Bethlehem
The morning begins at Yad Vashem, Israel’s moving memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, before continuing to the Israel Museum. Here the Shrine of the Book houses the Dead Sea Scrolls, while the model of Second Temple Jerusalem recreates the city from 2,000 years ago. Later, travel to Ein Karem, a picturesque village associated with the birth of John the Baptist, and then continue to Bethlehem. At the Church of the Nativity and Manger Square, the place of Christ’s birth is honoured. Return to Jerusalem for overnight.

Meals included:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner
Day 7 | Jerusalem Old City
From the Mount of Olives, enjoy a panoramic view across Jerusalem, sacred to Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Descend to the Garden of Gethsemane, the site of Jesus’ betrayal. Nearby, Mount Zion holds the traditional Tomb of King David and the Room of the Last Supper. Entering the Old City, visit the Western Wall and view the Temple Mount before walking along the Via Dolorosa, the Way of the Cross, leading to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. This most sacred of Christian shrines marks both the site of the Crucifixion and the Tomb of the Resurrection. Overnight in Jerusalem.
