En route, observe the changing landscape, from bustling towns to tranquil countryside and rolling plains. Check in at your tented lodge and spend the rest of the day at leisure, allowing time to unwind after your journey amidst the soothing sounds of the wilderness. Overnight in Yala.
Day 2 | Cookery & Safari Adventures in Yala
After a relaxed breakfast, embark on an interactive Sri Lankan cookery experience. Under the guidance of expert chefs, learn how to prepare traditional favourites such as aromatic curries, sambols, and spiced vegetables. This hands-on session invites you to blend your own spices and enjoy the fruits of your efforts for lunch. In the afternoon, set off on a shared safari through Yala National Park. The park is famed for its high density of leopards, as well as elephants, sloth bears, water buffalo, crocodiles, and an abundance of birdlife. Your naturalist guide will help spot and interpret the behaviour of these fascinating creatures as you explore one of Asia’s most celebrated wildernesses. As the sun dips below the horizon, return to your lodge for sundowners by the ocean, where you can sip a cool drink while watching the waves crash dramatically against the shore. Overnight in Yala.
Day 3 | Sunrise Safari & Dining in the Wilderness
Rise early for another morning game drive in Yala National Park. The early hours offer the best chance to see leopards and sloth bears emerging from the shade, as well as elephants enjoying the cooler dawn air. Return to your lodge for breakfast and enjoy a peaceful afternoon at leisure, perhaps by the pool or indulging in a spa treatment. As night falls, experience al fresco dining in the wilderness. Whether on the dunes overlooking the Indian Ocean or within the bush beneath a canopy of stars, this candlelit dinner offers an unforgettable connection to the wild surroundings, enhanced by gourmet cuisine and impeccable service. Overnight in Yala.
Day 4 | Journey to Weligama
Start the day with one last early morning safari in Yala, soaking in the raw natural beauty and wildlife of the park. After breakfast, check out and travel westward to the sun-kissed beaches of Weligama (approx. 2.5 hours). Upon arrival, check in and spend the afternoon at leisure, enjoying the ocean views or perhaps taking a dip in the turquoise waters of the bay. Overnight in Weligama.
Day 5 | The Fort of Galle
Enjoy a leisurely morning at the beach before departing for the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort, a 40-minute drive away. At 3pm, meet your resident expert guide for a private walking tour through this fascinating colonial enclave. Learn how Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences shaped the architecture, culture, and daily life within the fort’s ancient walls. Explore charming cobbled lanes lined with boutique shops, art galleries, and cafés before taking time to wander independently and soak up the ambience. Return to Weligama in the evening. Overnight in Weligama.
Day 6 | Whale Watching & Arrack Tasting
Rise early for a private whale watching excursion aboard a luxury catamaran. Departing at sunrise, you’ll sail into the deep waters off Weligama Bay, one of the best places in the world to see blue whales, sperm whales, and spinner dolphins. Enjoy breakfast onboard, and if you wish, take a refreshing swim or try stand-up paddleboarding before returning to shore. Later in the evening, discover the fascinating story of Sri Lanka’s signature spirit, Arrack. Guided by an expert mixologist, learn how this centuries-old coconut-based liquor evolved from a royal beverage to an internationally recognised spirit. Sample several blends paired with local bar snacks, and perhaps try your hand at mixing your own Arrack cocktail. Overnight in Weligama.
Day 7 | Depart Sri Lanka
At the appropriate time, transfer to Colombo Airport for your international departure (approx. 2.5 hours).
