Cyprus Wine Festival
Limassol becomes the attraction of thousands of locals and tourists who visit the Municipal Garden to enjoy the Wine Festival with the motto ‘Drink wine, it gives you life! Limassol has earned the reputation as the “Wine capital of Cyprus”, mainly due to the Wine Festival. At the event, you can taste a variety of local wines, including white and red, from both large and small local wineries. Enjoy traditional Cypriot food and performances from different local traditional artistic groups. The Wine Festival can be regarded as a variant and a revival of ancient festive manifestations of worship in honour of Dionysus, the god of wine, and Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love. During these feasts, people worshipped their gods, but primarily enjoyed themselves.
The Limassol Wine Festival has an annual attendance of over 100,000 visitors, including locals and many tourists. The four primary wine cooperatives, KEO, SODAP, ETKO, and LOEL, along with many smaller independent producers, offer free tastings of their wine portfolios.
