Amirandes & Marine Palace
Our adventure began with an early start at Amirandes, A Grecotel Resort to Live, and the moment we arrived, we were captivated. The resort’s beautifully maintained grounds, elegant décor in earthy tones, and serene atmosphere immediately set the tone. Rooms range from cosy lead-in options to luxurious villas with outdoor dining areas, saunas, and steam rooms, ideal for those seeking a touch of indulgence.
Lunch at Petrinos restaurant overlooking the sandy beach near Gouves village was a delight. The fresh seafood, local flavours, and gentle sea breeze made it a perfect introduction to the island. Afterwards, we checked into Grecotel Marine Palace & Aqua Park, where we would spend the next two nights. Its charming village-style layout, all-inclusive dining, and recently refurbished spa offered something for everyone.
The highlight for many was the Aqua Park, a lively playground for both little ones and the young at heart. Walking through the resort, seeing everyone laughing on the slides and splashing in the pools, was such a joyful way to start the trip.

Grecotel Creta Palace: Coastal Elegance
Next, we visited Grecotel Creta Palace, set amid beautifully landscaped gardens. Its quaint village square, with shops and a welcoming Kafenio, gave the property a charming, authentic feel. Rooms in soothing neutral tones provided a peaceful retreat after a morning exploring the grounds.
The 300-metre sandy Blue Flag beach is simply spectacular. Could you imagine walking along this coastline under the warm Cretan sun? It was a definite highlight of the day. For those wanting a taste of local life, a short drive takes you to historic Rethymno, or you can enjoy a leisurely 25-minute stroll along the coastline.
Lunch at Princess Ariadne Brasserie was exquisite, with dishes complemented by rounds of Raki, a wonderfully authentic Cretan touch.
Caramel Boutique & LuxMe White Palace
Visiting Caramel, A Grecotel Resort To Live for a site inspection and dinner was a real highlight. The property impressed with its spacious units and unique design, but the food truly stole the show, with Michelin-star quality in every bite. It was one of those meals you remember long after leaving the table.
The following day, we checked into the Grecotel LuxMe White Palace, welcomed by breathtaking views and expansive grounds. The resort offers a wide range of accommodation, from entry-level rooms to luxurious villas with private pools by the sea. Exploring the crystal-clear pools, elegant lounges, and facilities made it easy to see why this property is considered a flagship in the Grecotel collection.
Experiencing Cretan Traditions at Agreco Farm
A visit to Agreco farm was truly unforgettable. We learned about traditional Cretan crafts, from beekeeping to olive oil production, and even visited the Grecotel Raki distillery. The farm offered an excellent insight into the island’s culture and history.
Dinner featured traditional Cretan Antikristo, slow-roasted over an open flame. The smoky flavours and tender meat perfectly captured the essence of Cretan cuisine, an experience everyone savoured.
Luxury by the Sea at White Palace
Our first morning at the White Palace was enchanting. We began the day with a private breakfast by the sea, enjoying the gentle waves and expansive views. Afterwards, we had some free time; some of us swam in the crystal-clear waters, while others used the hotel’s facilities. In the afternoon, we had a wine-tasting session by the sea, an experience available to all guests.
Dinner at the White Restaurant was exquisite. Scallops, veal, and carefully paired wines created an evening to remember. To finish, we explored Rethymno by night, wandering its charming streets under the stars, a perfect end to a day full of memories.
