Pablo Picasso depicted himself as a Minotaur, the half-man, half-bull creature from the Labyrinth of Knossos in Crete, near Amirandes. Since 2013, the Minotaur restaurant at Amirandes has featured a remarkable collection of Picasso ceramics inspired by this mythical figure. These pieces, part of his Madoura collection from Vallauris, France, include stunning vases and pitchers that showcase his talent as a painter and sculptor.

Minotaur offers a unique dining experience, blending artistic flair with exceptional Mediterranean cuisine and wine pairings. Guests can dine outdoors by the lagoon, enjoying an imaginative international menu set against a beautiful waterfront.

Xasteria honours Cretan cuisine with a menu full of island flavours. Cretans enjoy long meals, sipping raki or wine while discussing various topics. Xasteria offers a village-style menu crafted from the freshest ingredients sourced from local villages, including organic produce from Grecotel’s Agreco Farm.

Crete’s rich soil yields some of the highest quality produce in the country, contributing to a diet that is widely regarded as one of the healthiest in the world. Most of the ingredients served in Amirandes’ restaurants are locally sourced.
