Full Itinerary

Tirana

Day 1

Arrive in Tirana International Airport. Transfer to the city and enjoy the day at leisure. Stay overnight at the Crown Boutique & SPA Hotel (or similar).

Lezha - Ulcinj - Bar

Day 2

After breakfast, make your way to Ulcinj, located in Montenegro. On the way there, visit Lezha, a popular town in Albania. Once an important centre for trade routes, the town has been inhabited by several civilizations over the years, including the Illyrians and the Balsha family. Whilst here, visit the Skanderbeg mausoleum, honouring one of Albanian’s most famous national heroes. From there, head to Ulcinj. This famous beach city has a coastline that stretches for 33km, of which 18km are dedicated to its pristine beaches, with grains of sand said to replicate the fine texture of flour. During your time here, visit the Castle of Ulcinj, which was built by the Illyrians over 2,500 years ago. Enjoy free leisure exploring the rest of the town, too. Stay overnight at Hotel Agape (or similar) in Bar.

Budva - Kotor

Day 3

Following breakfast, proceed to Budva. Although once a quiet and reserved town, Budva has gradually blossomed into a thriving metropolitan region, consisting of packed cobblestone streets, bustling local markets, and an inviting nightlife. From there, make your way to Kotor, a charming medieval town surrounded by large grey mountains and the nearby picturesque river. Go on a walking tour of Kotor, learning about its history and marveling at the ancient architecture. Then, head to Perast, located in the Bay of Kotor. Although small in size (with an estimated population of just 269), the area is the ultimate slice of paradise, featuring panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and waters. The town also has a surprisingly large number of landmarks, with 16 churches and 16 grand palazzos. Lastly, visit St. George, one of two islets in proximity to Perast. Stay overnight at Hotel Boutique Hippocampus (or similar).

Dubrovnik - Medjugorje

Day 4

After breakfast, experience a city tour of Dubrovnik, famed for its ancient city walls, and panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea, there is plenty to see and do in this historic city. You’ll visit the Cathedral, Rector’s Palace, Franciscan Monastery, Clock tower, Orlando’s Columns and more. In the afternoon we proceed to Medjugore. Stay overnight at Hotel Marconi (or similar).

Blagaj - Mostar

Day 5

After breakfast we will continue to visit Pocitelj then Blagaj. Visit the most popular Tekje in Bosnia and enjoy lunch by a Buna River spring. Check in to our hotel in Mostar then enjoy a city tour to visit Mehmet Koski Pasha Mosque, Karadjoz Bey Mosque, walk through the old town and witness the historic old bridge, listed as UNESCO heritage site. Overnight at Hotel Mostar 4* (or similar).

Mostar - Sarajevo - Mostar

Day 6

After breakfast we transfer to Tito’s bunker, a Cold War era nuclear bunker and military command center located near the town of Konjic in Bosnia and Herzegovina, built to protect Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito and up to 350 members of his inner circle in the event of an atomic conflict. Then we continue to Sarajevo and enjoy a tour of Vrelo Bosne, a spring of the Bosnia river, and take a walking tour of Bascarsija old town, the Latin Bridge - where the Austro-Hungarian Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, triggering the First World War - Brusa Bezistan covered marketplace, Gazi Husref Bey Mosque - built in 1530 year during the Ottoman era - Gazi Husref Bey Medrese; Morica Han built in 1551; and Vijecnica town hall. Return to Mostar. Overnight at Hotel Mostar (or similar).

Foca - Zabljak National Park

Day 7

After breakfast, make your way to Foca followed by Durmitor National Park. The park is a UNESCO Heritage site and is famous for its spectacular glaciers and nearby rivers and underground streams. As you venture deeper into the Tara River Canyon, you will come across some of the deepest gorges in Europe, along with dense pine forests. Then visit Black Lake. The site is unique for its misleading name, as it actually consists of two adjacent lakes, which covers 338 square meters and 177 square meters, respectively. Go on a walking tour around the lakes, marveling at the glistening water and panoramic mountain views. Then visit the Djurdjevica Tara Bridge, which stands at a staggering 172m high and stretches for 23km. It was once the largest vehicular concrete bridge in Europe, and it was built in 1940. Stay overnight at Hotel Soa (or similar) in Zabljak.

Kolasin - Biogradsko National Park - Podgorica

Day 8

After breakfast, proceed to Kolasin. On the way there, visit the Biogradska Gora National Park. It is one of the few rainforests in Europe, and it has been lovingly preserved for generations. Enjoy a short walk around the park. The park also contains various culturally and historically significant monuments, and the walking trail contains educational message boards, teaching visitors about the local flora and fauna. From there, make your way to Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro. Visit the Old Town and take a walking tour of the Doganjska Mosque (a beautifully preserved structure, featuring original wall inscriptions and an elegant, updated interior) and the Skaline, a unique stairway that must be seen to be believed. Other sites of interest include the Republic Square, Roman Square, Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, and the 17th century Sahat Kula clock tower. Stay overnight at Hotel Alexander Lux (or similar).

Shkoder Lake - Tirana

Day 9

Have breakfast and then head to Shkoder Lake. Set against the backdrop of the Albanian Alps, the lake is the largest of its kind in Southern Europe, and it is home to various small islands, such as Beska which has two churches there. Go on a city tour of Shkoder, visiting the Centrum, Old Bazaar, Cathedral and mosques. Also visit Rozafa Castle, where legend has it that the brothers who built it agreed to sacrifice one of their wives in order to prevent the castle walls from tumbling down. Drive back to Tirana. Stay overnight at the Crown Boutique & SPA Hotel (or similar).
