Full Itinerary

Eastern Sicily

Day 1

Arrive in Eastern Sicily and check in at your hotel, where you will meet your tour guide and participate in a live presentation of the tour. Spend two nights at a hotel in Catania or Giardini Naxos.

Eastern Sicily - Syracuse - Noto

Day 2

After breakfast, make your way to Ortigia, a historic city centre that is over 2,700 years old. Explore the lively arts and culture region, along with a visit to the Fountain of Arethusa and the Temple of Minerva. You can also explore the archeological area, which includes a well-preserved Greek Theatre, Roman Ampitheatre, and the Ear of Dionysus. After lunch, go for a walk in Noto, a small town in southeast Sicily with various churches, a royal gate and the Palazzo Ducezio, which was built between 1746 and 1830.

Eastern Sicily - Giarre - Catania - Palermo

Day 3

Have breakfast and then make your way to Giarre, a scenic town with plenty of beaches, ancient Greek sites and the Parco dell'Etna. Whilst here, you will visit the Botanical Park of Radicepura, which contains thousands of botanical species from Australia, Asia, and other parts of the world. From there, proceed to Catania and visit the historic centre, enjoying a light snack whilst there. Then head to western Sicily. Spend two nights at a hotel in the Palermo area.

Palermo - Monreale

Day 4

After breakfast, head to Monreale and visit two famous landmarks: the Cathedral, which was built between 1162 and 1182, and the Benedictine Cloister, with intricately crafted columns depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments. Return to Palermo, and then go on a walking tour of the city centre. Notable landmarks you will see include the Church of Santa Caterina, the Cathedral of Palermo, and the Piazza Pretoria. Enjoy lunch and free leisure for the rest of the day.

Palermo - Erice - Marsala - Selinunte - Agrigento

Day 5

After breakfast, visit either the town of Erice or Trapani. (In some cases, road closures may prevent access to Erice). From there, proceed to Marsala and visit the winery for a tour of the vineyards and a wine tasting session. Have lunch during the excursion and, in the afternoon, head to Selinunte and then Agrigento. Stay overnight at a hotel in the Agrigento area.

Agrigento - Piazza Armerina - Eastern Sicily

Day 6

After breakfast, visit the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. The area consists of the temples of the gods, along with the necropolis and several sanctuaries. From there, proceed to the Piazza Armerina and have lunch. Then visit the Roman Villa to marvel at the famous mosaics. Then go to eastern Sicily, landing accommodation in either Catania or Giardini Naxos. Spend two nights in your final hotel.

Eastern Sicily - Eastern Etna - Taormina

Day 7

Have breakfast and go for an excursion to Mount Etna. Home to an active volcano, guided tours are a regular occurrence, and an all-terrain bus can take you to many of the best vantage points. Whilst in the area, you will also get the chance to sample local honey and enjoy lunch. Depending on weather conditions, you may not be able to ascend as usually desired. In this case, an alternate destination in the area will be arranged. In the afternoon, visit Taormina and explore the Ancient Theatre. The theatre was built during the 3rd century BC, and with a diameter of 107 metres it has the capacity to hold up to 10,000 people. Enjoy free time at leisure for the rest of the day.
