Full Itinerary

Arrival into Muscat

Day 1

Our representative will meet you upon your arrival at Muscat International Airport and take you to your hotel. Following your check in and depending on your time of arrival, you can choose to explore the city at your own leisure or rest and relax around the hotel.

Muscat

Day 2

After breakfast our guide will meet you for your half-day Muscat Tour. Drive to the Grand Mosque, one of the largest and most spectacular in the world, accommodating up to 20,000 worshippers at a time. Please note, visitors will be expected to dress in a conservative manner with no revealing or transparent cloting. ladies must wear a head scarf/covering. next, visit Old Muscat and the fascinating Omani heritage collection at the Bait Al Zubair Museum. Photo opportunities outside Al Alam Palace, the official residence of his majesty Sultan Qaboos and the neighbouring Portuguese fort of Jalali, before heading to one of the oldest souqs in Oman, Muttrah Souq, and the opportunity to barter for a bargain and pick up some authentic local souvenirs. Early afternoon return to your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure. Optional Sunset Dhow Cruise (extra fee applies) - enjoy a leisurely cruise along the Muscat coast onboard a traditional dhow sailing vessel and take in the stunning sunset views.

Muscat - Wadi Shab - Sur

Day 3

After breakfast you will check out of your hotel and be driven to the Wadi Dayqah reservoir in the Western Hajar Mts. to marvel at the scenery before continuing to Wadi Arbyn for an off-road excursion along this picturesque dried river bed trail and on to the spectacular limestone crater of the Bimmah Sinkhole for a rest stop. Next up is a short boat trip for a hike in the valleys and gorges of Wadi Shab before visiting the traditional old village of Wadi Tiwi and its farmers of tropical fruit including bananas and papayas. On arrival in Sur enjoy an orientation drive to see the dhow building yards and souks and corniche. Check in to your hotel and have the special opportunity in the evening to join a local naturalist guide to see if you are lucky enough to witness the local population of turtles in their natural habitat.

Sur - Wadi bani Khalid - Wahiba Sands

Day 4

After breakfast you will will head to the natural desert oasis of Wadi Bani Khalid with its clear green spring water where you can stroll or enjoy a cooling dip in one of the pools. Once refreshed it's time to head into the spectacular orange sand dunes of Wahiba Sands, a desert sea of dunes which can reach 100m in height. Your experienced driver will then take you on a thrilling drive through the undulating sands before heading to a traditional Bedouin house where you will be welcomed with dates and traditional coffee as you learn about life in the desert and take in the incredible sunsets from atop the sand dunes. Dinner and overnight under the stars at an Arabian desert camp.

Wahiba Sands - Jabreen - Nizwa

Day 5

After breakfast in the desert camp, jump in your 4WD to be driven out of the desert and back on to the blacktop for a day visiting some spectacular and historic Omani sites. First up is the oasis village, ancient mud houses and banana trees of Birkat Al Mauz, home to one of Oman's oldest Falaj irrigation systems, now a UNESCO World Heritage listed site. Next, it's time to visit one of Oman's finest castles - the 17th century castle at Jabreen is renowned for its beautiful paintings and Islamic motifs as well as some mesmerising views over the surrounding landscape. The village of Bahla is considered to be a mystical site, famed for it's pottery and its UNESCO World Heritage 12th century mud fortress - the oldest fort in Oman, believed to date back to pre-islamic times. Upon arrival in Nizwa you will check in to your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure.

Nizwa - Wadi Bani Auf - Mussanah

Day 6

Today you will explore the sights and sites of Nizwa, considered to be a cultural centre of Oman. Firstly you can wander the alleyways of the city's traditional souq and cattle market before visiting the famous fort and its dominant and majestic circular tower. The fort dominates the area with the town having grown around it after it was built in the 17th century to guard trade routes through the interior of the country. Climb the narrow twisting staircase to enjoy bird's-eye views from its summit. En route to Mussanah you will visit the quaint mountain village of Bilad Sayt framed by dramatic mountains and then spectacular Wadi Bani Auf, also known as 'Snake Gorge' due to its twisting, narrow graded road. Drive to Nakhl to learn about the date palm trees grown there, as well as the imposing Nakhl Fort and refreshing, warm springs against the magnificent mountain backdrop. Dinner and overnight in your hotel in Mussanah.

Day 7
