3 Great Destinations for a Winter Sun Holiday
As the days get shorter and the summer feels like it will never arrive you could be unrolling your towel on a beach and basking in sunshine on a winter sun holiday. Furthermore you can avoid the crowds that you see in the busier summer months and often get some great deals with cheaper hotel rates.

Egypt
Egypt is a destination for any time of year, but the winter months where temperatures rarely drop below 20 degrees make it particularly appealing.
Egypt has so much to offer the holidaymaker; iconic sites including Giza’s pyramids and Tutankhamen’s tomb are ideal for culture buffs and endless stretches of white sandy beaches are a dreamy location to relax and unwind with a good book.
One of the most popular activities in Egypt is diving, due to the Red Sea’s world-class selection of dive spots that feature endless forests of coral and over a thousand species of tropical fish. There are also some fantastic golf courses in Egypt for the keen golfer and some luxurious spas offering heavenly treatments that will make you never want to leave!
Morocco
With flight times at around three and a half hours from the UK, Morocco is a great choice for some winter sun. Temperatures can reach the high teens at both the beach resorts and in Marrakech. Whilst you may not be able to spend all day and every day deepening your tan, you will certainly see plenty of sunshine and will not need to bring your woolly coat!
Morocco is a diverse country and can offer all kinds of holiday. Marrakech is an explosion for the senses with its bustling Medina and Djemaa el Fna, the busiest square in Africa full of street performers and stalls serving authentic Moroccan cuisine. To the west of the country the coastal resorts offer a slower pace of life and beautiful beaches where you can either relax with a cold drink or try some water sports.
Tunisia
Tunisia is a mesmerising country in North Africa whose proximity to Europe sees it combine African and European cultures and seemingly never-ending stretches of white sandy beaches have a great selection of hotels.
Whilst people at home will be wrapping up in their winter woollies, you could be trekking across the desert on the back of a camel and soaking up the dramatic landscapes. Lovely harbour towns such as Port El Kantaoui offer plenty of sophisticated bars by the marina perfect for sipping on a cocktail whilst watching the sunset. The food in Tunisia is delicious and varied often taking influence from France.
