Flight Into Catania Airport

Day 1

Arrival at Catania Airport and transfer to the hotel for a welcome cocktail. Dinner and overnight in Catania.

Catania - Siracusa - Ragusa

Day 2

After breakfast, depart for Siracusa to visit the archaeological area “Neapolis”, including the famous ‘Latomia’ of Paradise and the ‘Ear of Dionysius’. Continue to the island of Ortigia, the baroque old city-centre of Siracusa. Visit of the Cathedral, which is built upon the site of the Temple of Minerva, the legendary Arethuse Fountain and the Temple of Apollo. Free time to have lunch independently. Depart to Modica, which is part of the UNESCO Heritage Sites in Italy. Following this depart for Ragusa (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and visit of the enchanting historical centre “Ibla”, with its stunning baroque architecture and churches.The tour will then continue to a chocolate factory to create your own bar of Chocolate. Dinner and overnight in Ragusa. Optional: visit “by night” of the ancient city Ragusa “Ibla”, cradle of Sicilian baroque, with its Cathedral, situated in the beautiful square of the Dome and the “giardino Ibleo” (supplement on the spot; the excursion will take place with a minimum of participants).

Ragusa - Caltagirone - Agrigento

Day 3

After breakfast, depart for the small town of Caltagirone, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for the production of pottery and majolica (Italian tin-glazed pottery that dates back to Renaissance). Continue to Piazza Armerina to visit the renowned Villa Romana del Casale, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its well-preserved mosaics. Lunch in a local restaurant with a special menu of local specialities. Depart to Agrigento, a hillside town famous for its magnificent Valley of the Temples, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy guided tour of the Valley, including the Temple of Concordia, Juno and Heracles. Dinner and overnight in Agrigento.

Agrigento - Palermo - Monreale

Day 4

After breakfast depart for Palermo to discover the capital of Sicily. Stop en-route stop in Monreale for a visit of the Cathedral, housing very fine mosaics representing a complete cycle of the Old and New Testaments and the Benedictine Cloister in Arab-Norman style. Lunch on your own. Proceed to Palermo to visit the historical centre, including the Cathedral and the Palazzo Mirto . Dinner and overnight in Palermo.

Palermo - Segesta - Erice

Day 5

After breakfast depart to Segesta to admire the magnificent Doric Temple and the Theatre, one of the best-preserved Greek architectural sites. Continue to the medieval village of Erice, walking through its narrow and winding streets and inner courtyards. Lunch on your own. Down to Trapani area for a panoramic tour of the salt windmills and basins. Return to Palermo. Dinner and overnight in Palermo.

Cefalu - Nebrodi Park - Taormina

Day 6

After breakfast depart to Cefalù, a former fishing village and now a charming coastal town. Enjoy a walk in the city-centre and down the main street to reach the Arab-Norman Cathedral and the medieval wash-house built in the rock. Drive through the Park of “Nebrodi” and stop at the Miraglia Forest for lunch with a typical Sicilian menu. Continue to Cesarò, Randazzo and visit the Etna park from an unusual viewpoint - the north facing side. Proceed to Taormina. Dinner and overnight in Taormina.

Taormina - Mt Etna (Optional)

Day 7

After breakfast, enjoy the morning at leisure or take an optional excursion to the Mount Etna ( Weather conditions permitting). We will reach a height of 1,800 metres to visit the Sylvester Craters (supplement on the spot with a minimum number of participants) where you can enjoy a spectacular panorama over the Ionian Sea. Lunch on your own. Afternoon in Taormina, "the pearl of the Ionian Sea". Enjoy free time at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Taormina.

Return Flight from Catania

Day 8

Enjoy one last breakfast at the hotel and then transfer to Catania airport for your return flight to the UK or continue your holiday in Sicily.
